Multi-Agent Ledger & Invoice Cross-Check

Tested a dual-checker verification pattern to compare vendor invoice PDFs against Stripe payout webhooks and banking CSV exports.

Direct Answer & Core Finding

Dual-checker verification pattern with programmatic sanity checks prevents silent financial extraction hallucination.

1. The Baseline Problem

Manual monthly spreadsheet reconciliation required tedious cross-referencing between Stripe payouts and vendor invoice line items.

Financial data cannot tolerate hallucinations. If an OCR system confuses an invoice date with a payment due date, reconciliation breaks.

We designed a multi-agent validation loop: Worker Agent extracts structured JSON from invoice documents, while Checker Agent independently computes checksum totals and validates against external bank ledger exports.

2. What Was Built

An automated pipeline that extracts structured line items from PDFs and runs programmatic diffs against banking ledger entries.

Any mismatch exceeding $0.01 triggers an exception flag in an operational review dashboard instead of auto-committing.

What Broke & Known Limitations

Single-agent LLM extraction missed currency symbol conversions (EUR vs USD invoice totals) on complex multi-currency tables. Implementing a second independent verification parser caught discrepancies before committing records.
